So you've been harassed, you've been lied to, you've been coherced by insanly agressive sales people, you've paid your dues only to find out you can't use the property or that you can never get into bonus time, you've found out the property isn't what you were promissed, you've found out Disnyland isn't going to build their newest theme park next door (I swear to God I got that one in an email!). What do you do now?
There is hope. I've passed the following letter on to several Silverleaf customers and found that Silverleaf can be made to be reasonable. If you were lied to, mislead, coherced, and defrauded, the contract really is null and void and if you complain loudly to the right people Silverleaf will let you out of the remainder of your contract. If you want back what you've already invested, that's going to take actual legal action on your part. Here is the letter that has set many of your fellow owners free:

Just wanted to share my experience with Silverleaf. It was actually not all
that bad if I had bought a red week. But I did not want to pay what they were
asking. Well I bought a blue week thinking I would still be able to go in
the red week only if I paid $99 (This is what the salesman told me). Well I
found out that he was wrong. I made a mental note of everything the salesman
told me and wrote it down. I have been a member for 7 months and I was able to
end my contract with them as of today. Here is what I did:
1. I sent a complaint form to the Texas Attorney Generals Office
2. I made a copy of the deceptive trade section of the law. There is a
section in there that says that if a salesman misrepresents timeshare: (i.e
saying its value will increase: the salesman told me this), the company is in
violation. I made note of this and sent a copy to the TAGO highlighting this
section.
3. I did not give up. I called the TAGO every week to see what the
status on the complaint was.
4. They sent a copy to Silverleaf.
5. Silverleaf called me today said that they can cancel my contract
today. They will stop billing my credit card immediately. They said they are
also going to refund me my last payment. They are sending out paperwork for me
to sign to end this dispute.
My suggestion to those who want to get out of this is to try and remember
what the salesman said to you. If any of it is not true, research the laws on
this (as I did for 2 days) and file a complaint. I have to say though,
Silverleaf handled it fairly. They did not have to let me out of the contract. I
was even willing to except a red week for the price of the blue week they gave
me but they said they could not do that. I also have to say that the many
times I did go to the resort, my family and I had fun. The only problem was
that I would not be able to go during my week because my kid was in school.
Another suggestion in ending your contract with Silverleaf is to donate it to
the Gifts for Sight.
